The culinary wealth of Afro-Panamanians is incalculable. Every new generation receives the traditions and experiences at a cultural level that families and ancestors have preserved for years, but this cultural treasure must be used to the maximum in the most efficient way possible, creating projects and ventures that are sustainable in all their aspects.
Chef Isaac visited the cultural and tourist movement Mi Barrio 507 located in the district of Santa Ana. Mi Barrio 507's mission is to provide education and work to the residents of the area through art and culture, promoting their skills and bringing them new knowledge on how to use the resources they have and those they are acquiring. Isaac mentions that visiting the kitchen of this movement was a reminder of the need for the community to learn concepts and techniques that help them use the available resources in a more efficient way and that are beneficial to the rest of the inhabitants of the Santa Ana neighborhood.
On this occasion, the La Tapa del Coco team decided to join forces to work in favor of the community of the Mi Barrio 507 movement and show the world the potential that this movement has to offer, the positive impact it generates in the community and its benefits to all the residents of Santa Ana. The launch of the Queso Plantain Pack not only seeks to satisfy and make a cultural reminder for our community but also gives each of the clients who purchase this product the opportunity to contribute a grain of sand to the improvement of the kitchen of Mi Barrio 507.
Chef Jaime, a young, charismatic and dreamy Bocatoreño, who, despite the adversities of his environment, collaborates daily with his community through the Mi Barrio 507 movement, feeding different families in Santa Ana every day. Jaime dreams of traveling to France, Spain, Mexico, Jamaica and Brazil as well as having his own restaurant in Bocas del Toro. Rice with coconut, beans, baked chicken and ripe plantain is the signature dish that Chef Jaime likes to prepare. Jaime mentions that what he enjoys most about being part of the Mi Barrio 507 movement is surrounding himself with people who are productive and passionate about helping others. His message for the younger generations is that if you truly have a dream, take advantage of all the opportunities that the path gives you to move forward with it.
How will we help the Mi Barrio 507 movement?

Utensils such as chopping boards, knives, thermometers, aprons, among other essential instruments for the optimization of the use of the supplies and resources that reach the kitchen of the movement.
